Registration for insurance

Registration for insurance in both ZUS and KRUS takes place in two steps. KRUS insurances may only be taken advantage of by entrepreneurs who are considered as „farmers”.

Registration for insurance in both ZUS and KRUS takes place in two steps

  1. When registering the company, as we sign into the the Central Registration and Information on Business (CEIDG). At this point we choose either ZUS or KRUS and as a result have our payer’s account established for the company.

  2. At the Social Security Company (ZUS) we declare whether we are obliged to pay social insurance contributions (the ZUA form) or just the health insurance (the ZZA form), which can happen when, for example, we are employed in another company (provided we are being paid the minimum wage).

When choosing our insurance with ZUS we have to decide whether we want it to also include medical insurance or not.

Over the first two years we are allowed to benefit from lowered rates of contributions:

117,12 PLN (translating to 19,52%) for pension insurance
48,00 PLN (translating to 8%) for disability insurance
14,70 PLN (translating to 2,45%) for medical insurance
10,80 PLN (translating to 1,80%) for accident insurance, assuming that the person running a non-agricultural activity reports no more than 9 people for insurance

That makesThe contribution on health insurance in 2017 is 297,28 PLN (translating to 9,00% of the base)

Unfortunately, after those initial two years have passed, we will need to pay higher contributions, which at this moment are:

- social insurance:

• 499,28 PLN (translating to 19,52%) for pension insurance
• 204,62 PLN (translating to 8%) for disability insurance
• 62,67 PLN (translating to 2,45%) for medical insurance
• 46,04 PLN (translating to 1,80%) for accident insurance, assuming that the person running a non-agricultural activity reports no more than 9 people for insurance

That makes- health insurance

The contribution on health insurance in 2017 is 297,28 PLN (translating to 9,00% of the base).

- Labor Fund

The contribution on the Labor Fund in 2017 is 62,67 PLN (translating to 2,45% of the base).

It is of course allowed to pay higher insurance contributions and as a result have more money gathered on our pension fund. Yet it is much more common for entrepreneurs to choose other forms of saving.

KRUS insurances may only be taken advantage of by entrepreneurs who are considered as „farmers”.
